  1. Notification

    Notification of cross by high risk contact into Uganda by DRC


  2. Case identified and referred

    Suspect case identified and referred to Bwera ETU and sample collected


  3. Ebola Zaire confirmed

    Ebola Zaire confirmed, Emergency NTF held, activation of PH EoC and RRT deployed.

    Declaration of EVD outbreak, press release and Notification made to WHO.

  4. Interventions

    Daily NTF and DTF initiated, Contact tracing initiated, supplies delivered, and community engagement and active case search initiated.

    Death of index case, sample collection from second and third case which were confirmed positive for EVD on 13th June.

  5. Repatriation

    Repatriation of EVD cases to DRC.

  6. Vaccination

    Initiation of vaccination of contacts and contacts of contacts.

    Approval of MEURI protocol.

  7. Threat

    On 25th June 2019, leaves Beni for Bunia - onset of symptoms, then travels to Djalasiga which is 130KMs to Uganda border then travels to Ariwala

    On 30 June 2019 she is confirmed with Ebola and dies. 203 contacts were identified and vaccinated - 11 were missing at the time and were suspected to have travelled to Arua.

  8. 21-day mark

    21 day mark crossed and visit of WHO regional direction and CDC Africa director.

  9. Threat

    On 8th July 2019, a fish monger/ trader travelled to Kasese, stayed in Mpondwe 8th to 11th July 2019, travelled back to Beni with signs and symptoms of VHF, later was confirmed with EVD and died in the ETU in Beni. 65 contacts were linked to this one and were vaccinated and followed up.

  10. Threat

    On 16th July 2019, 2 Ugandan Health workers cared for an EVD case in a private clinic in DRC - these were also considered high risk since they travel to Uganda to visit family members. One Health worker kept travelling between 2 clinic one in DRC - Umoja and Uganda - Agape. On 12th the heath worker is referred to Bwera ETU, he changes his mind and is taken to Butembo ETU where he died.

  11. 42-day Mark

    42 day mark crossed End of EVD outbreak.
